- Summary:
- The eighth book in the collection, authored by Abilio Guerra, seeks to unveil the engendering of discourse and work by Rio de Janeiro architect Lúcio Costa, a tributary of the modernism of the 1920s, which harbors contradictory desires: the updating of the arts in relation to European production and the discovery of the roots of nationality. The confrontation of this intellectual universe - where the themes of tropical nature and Brazilian man are recurrent - crosses different areas of the human sciences and the arts, and reconstitutes the connections between Lúcio Costa, Mário de Andrade, Oswald de Andrade and Tarsila do Amaral, a fraternal and intellectual relationship in which foreign characters participate, such as Le Corbusier, Blaise Cendrars, Gregori Warchavchik and Lasar Segall.
