- Summary:
- What were the conditions for the SoHo art scene to exist in the 1970s? This is the question that is explored in this book. It immerses itself in a community of artists, and how interdisciplinary creative space reinforced experiments that went beyond galleries and theaters, to take over streets, abandoned buildings, parks, the treetops, and underground. This book rescues voices and stories collected through attentive readings, review of archives, but fundamentally of conversations with Carmen Beuchat, Barbara Dilley, Richard Nonas, Rachel Wood and Carol Goodden, people whose practices were determinant and determined by the creative ecosystem of SoHo in the 1970s. Thus, new versions of the story appear; Voices, mostly of women, revealed a series of historical erasures that today, with distance and greater awareness of gender issues, we can identify.
