- Summary:
- This book can be read in two parts: the first tells the story of the origins and development of artist publications, with a focus on magazines edited by Latin American writers and artists during the second half of the twentieth century. The second, which will be more of a backdrop throughout the book, contains certain reflections drawn under the broad framework of cultural memory studies, around the documentary and historical legacy that artists' publications have meant. Magazines give an account of a structure or functioning that opens up its own time, thus revealing, from the present, a timeless and latent collective spirit. In this way, this book contributes to the current discussion and reflection on memory and its representation in art, particularly based on the idea of artist magazines as documentary sources for other historiographies.
