Summary:
The Vicús culture was an important early Pre-Hispanic culture that lived in the Piura region in the northern Pacific desert coast of Peru. They were known for their work in ceramics, copper, and gold. The exhibition, curated by the archaeologist Hugo Ikehara, addresses issues related to their everyday life, such as architecture, the body as a sign, festivities and the (re)imagined animal landscape; as well as interpretations linked to death, which include funeral rituals, sonority and transformations. Likewise, the context of the Vicús world is also presented, making an analysis of who its neighbors were, how it has influenced contemporary ceramics of Chulucanas and a detailed description of the Vicús artistic style.
