Summary:
This edition is a tribute to the memory of Carlos Soldi Le Bihan and Ana María Soldi Gasca, who formed the collection at the hacienda Ocucaje between the 1930s and 1960s. From 1971 until today, the Soldi family has donated its archaeological collections composed of ceramic, metal and textile specimens. The provenance of these objects is closely linked to the old Hacienda Ocucaje in Ica (South Coast), which was owned and where the family lived for many years. As for the content of the work, five specialists in the archaeology and natural history of the Ica region put this collection in context in the light of the latest research in the area, revealing a fascinating and unprecedented corpus that synthesizes two thousand years of cultural continuity. The valuable academic contribution of specialists such as Heather Lechtman, for his long and close friendship with Ana María Soldi; David Beresford-Jones and Oliver Whaley in the description of the environment in pre-Columbian times; Ann Peters in the detailed analysis of the valuable textile and feather heritage; and Johny Isla, renowned specialist in Iqueña archaeology, contribute with their writings to give us a renewed vision of the pre-Hispanic cultural history of the Ica region through the most representative pieces of the Soldi collection. "OQKG es un acrónimo; cada letra es una sílaba; su pronunciación -en castellano- evoca la antigua voz aymara que le da el nombre a uno de los oasis de la cuenca baja del río Ica. este libro, presenta por primera vez, una selección razonada de la colección arqueológica formada por Carlos Soldi y Ana María Soldi entre las décadas de 1930 y 1960 en la hacienda Ocucaje"--Verso Cover.
