Summary:
Since December 2011, Julian Schutting has been keeping an artistic diary in which he reflects on his everyday life. It does not record the current events of the day, as is typical of diaries - rather, what is experienced, perceived and imagined is captured in a poetic reality. And that has a lot to do with walking: the poet, who lives in Vienna, spends three or four hours on the move every day, as a city stroller and hiker who observes his surroundings with an almost phenomenal eye and creates texts as he walks, which later take shape at his desk. Likewise, newspaper reports are an opportunity for him to write, as well as snippets of words from a conversation in the subway, an opera aria, travel impressions and childhood memories. The experienced and the subconscious, sometimes in the form of lyrical structures, make their way into his diary. Here is a tireless worker day and night at work with an alert sensorium to recognize what is significant in the inconspicuous. This is how art is created from the little things of everyday life.--Translated from book jacket.
