Summary:
Large wooden mortar and pestle. Mortar is made from single piece of black walnut or similar dark wood. Pestle is similarly fashioned, possibly of maple or similar lightwood. Andiron band encircles the base (most likely a historical repair), and there may have been a similar band around the top.
