- Summary:
- This is a manuscript for publication of critical notes dealing with history and Talmudical aspects; the first part of the manuscript is a transcription of Solomon Judah Leib Rapoport's biography and footnotes written about Nissim ben Jacob ben Nissim ibn Shahin (printed in Bikure ha-ʻitim 12 (Vienna: Anton Edl. von Schmid, 1831, l. 56 passim), with additional glosses; the writer integrated his glosses into the footnotes from the original text (yet copied the text of the biography in square script, and the footnotes and additional glosses in an Eastern European Hebrew cursive script; f. 1r-50v). The next section is an unfinished biography of Naḥmanides (abruptly finishing on f. 48v), and a section on Meʼir Baʻal ha-Nes (2nd century) and miraculous occurances in the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmuds and the Midrashic literature (ending at f. 76r); more notes on passages in the Talmud (ending at f. 80r); the remainder of the manuscript are notes on historical episodes in the Talmudic literature (ending on f. 102v). There are numerous quotes and sayings from Elijah ben Solomon of Vilna (the Vilna Ga'on) and a quote from Hayyim Joseph David Azulai (f. 59v) and the book Toledot adam (on Shelomoh Zalman mi-Ṿilna; 1756-1785; ibidem).
