- Summary:
- Eva had every reason not to succeed in life. She was born to a family brought to Israel from Morocco and lived in an arid moshav and then in an apartment in Jaffa. She doesn't like to study, likes to hang out and lives in a place where crime, drugs and rape are an inseparable part of everyday life. Nevertheless and against all the odds, Eva manages to fulfill her dreams and rise to a full life in her unique way, while turning her back on the male establishment and the expectations that society has of her. Through Ava's journey we get to know the silenced narrative of Zionism, poverty, racism and neighborhood life that were the lot of many of the immigrants in the early days of the state. At the same time, the journey is characterized by the discovery of the power of unity, of nationalism, of the possibility of bridging the gaps and divisions and not just widening them. -- translated and adapted from back cover.
