- Summary:
- Catalog referring to the museum's permanent collection, focusing on architectural, expographic, curatorial and collections issues. The work features photos of MON pieces accompanied by explanatory texts by collectors or curators of each collection. The collections of African Art, Asian Art, Contemporary Art and Architecture are represented; in addition to these, the volume features the Poty Lazzarotto Collection, recently incorporated into the museum, which includes all material produced by the graphic artist from Paraná, including sketches, projects and studies. In an exquisite edition, Museu Oscar Niemeyer permanent collection is the portrait of an institution connected with its time and, through it, an opportunity to learn about the principles, concepts and choices that govern contemporary museology. Inaugurated in 2002, the Oscar Niemeyer Museum is, in itself, a landmark in the landscape of Curitiba. The unmistakable Eyeʺ, designed by Niemeyer himself, is the largest art museum in Latin America, covering 35,000 square meters, of which 17,000 are dedicated to the exhibition area. More than an architectural icon, MON is today a vibrant institution, which hosts important temporary exhibitions and develops successful interactive and educational exhibition projects, aimed at audiences of all age groups. In addition to these actions, the museum has gathered, over its two decades of existence, a beautiful and diverse collection that today comprises around 14,000 pieces
