- Summary:
- Jed is a thirteen-year-old boy not doing very well in school and when he is eventually expelled the 33-year-old Mr Hollis (Holly) Flood is appointed as his private tutor by Jed's dispassionate, self-centered mother. Holly's open approach to education appeals to Jed and the two get on well together, and when Holly talks of moving on, to Jed it seems quite natural to go with him. Eventually Holly's relationship with his "kidnapped" young pupil becomes intimate; the two are clearly in love.
