- Wile (The Art of the Bedchamber: The Chinese Sexual Yoga Classics . . . , 1992) translates and analyzes four collections of recently released 19th-century manuscripts. They are by Wu's older brothers Ch'eng-ch'ing and Ju-chi'ing, his nephew Li I-yu, and Yang Pan-hou. Based on the new insights, he reconsiders the world of the families of Yung-nien against the background of the Opium Wars, the Taiping Rebellion, and the decline of the Manchu dynasty. He includes transcriptions of the original Chinese texts, family trees, and other supporting material. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
