- Summary:
- Hydrazones: Uses and Reactions discusses how the interdisciplinary uses of hydrazones as building blocks, multifunctional linkers, aggregation‐induced‐emission luminogens illuminating mitochondria in cancer cells, and their indispensable role in drug designing makes them highly significant. In one study, a novel hydrazone compound (E)-N'-(3,4-dihydroxybenzylidene)isobutyrohydrazide (hbibH2) was obtained from the reaction of isobutyric acid hydrazide with 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde. This hydrazone compound is characterized both theoretically and experimentally. In a subsequent study, a design of the molecules carrying hydrazone or thiosemicarbazone, as well as a sterically-hindered ortho-diphenol moiety with bioactive metal ions in a single scaffold, is presented for the purpose of the efficient inhibition of a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi.
