- Summary:
- Every thriving garden has a few weeds, just as every person has a fault or two. Friends accept our faults (and usually don't notice weeds in our gardens). This is the story of a woman who noticed only the weeds in her neighbours' gardens. Worse, she also thought it was her 'duty' to point out what she thought were her neighbours' faults, while ignoring their achievements. You won't be surprised to learn that this woman had very few friends. She thought she didn't need friends until the day she stumbled in the street and hurt her knee. She couldn't stand up. She was in terrible pain. And she was all alone. She began crying out for help. But did she cry out in vain? Would anyone come to help the woman who only saw weeds? Author Bio: Tony Urquhart lives and works in Brisbane, Australia. He began writing for children when his two daughters were very young and his first collection of short rhyming stories, My First Mystery Book, was published in The Australian Women's Weekly in the 1980s. The Woman Who Only Saw Weeds won a regional literary prize in the 1990s, as did his first illustrated story The Boy Who Got Nothing Right. His third book for children is a collection of quirky stories titled I Think I Would Rather Be Me. It will be released shortly.
