Sept. 8, 1975:-the judge and courtroom staff of Division Three, Superior Court of San Ramon County, Arizona, prepares to sentence the man the media dubbed the "Santa Klaus Killer." Assorted courthouse personnel, relatives and friends of the families of the victims and the public will soon gather as townsfolk once did for public hangings. Mon. Sept. 8, 1975:-a teacher tells the school nurse that she's found one of her third grade students sobbing under the school's bleachers. The only thing the little girl says is that she wants her dolly to die.Mon. Sept. 8, 1975:-a summons for jury duty on October 15 muddles the recipient's plan. He needs to find a country that will not extradite, and finalize arrangements sooner than he'd intended. Thanksgiving seemed right.Thurs. Sept. 11, 1975:-a school nurse phones her old friend, a retired Sheriff's Detective/now bailiff for Division 3 of San Ramon County Superior Court to discuss a third grader who reportedly not only wants her dolly to die, but draws pictures of gravestones.Thurs. Sept. 11, 1975:-a little girl sits in her room, clutching her favorite doll, softly singing, "Rain, rain, go away..." but changes the following line to "I want him to go away. I want him to die and never come back."Tues. Sept. 23, 1975:-the nurse and the court reporter happily plan a costume party for October 31, Halloween, unaware of the horror that is about to unfold.
