- OBIWU received his Ph.D. (with distinction) in English with emphasis on Critical Theory from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York and wrote his dissertation on In the Name of the Father: Lacanian Reading of Four White South African Writers. Tigress at Full Moon is his second volume of poetry since Rituals of the Sun (1992). Obiwuís other publications have been widely acclaimed. He won the Donatus Nwoga Prize for Literary Criticism in Poetry (2009) with his essay on ìThe Ecopoetics of Christopher Okigbo and Ezra Pound.î He was a fellow of the Presidential Leadership Institute, Central State
