- Lena Lundgren examines addiction as a biopsychosocial condition. She describes various evidence-based treatment models, how different populations are affected by addictions, the importance of continuity of care, and the role of the family in the relapse and recovery process. In the clinical demonstration, Luz Marilis Lopez works with Claudio who is seeking treatment for heroin addiction and is expressing reluctance to stay in his recovery program. Dr. Lopez offers uses Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based strategies in her work with Claudio. Lena Lundgren is Professor of Social Welfare Policy as well as Director for the Center for Addictions Research & Services at Boston University's School of Social Work.
