Summary:
This documentary examines the threat to the delicate Alpine ecology of pasture and forest posed by growing tourism, pollution and acid rain. It shows how acid rain leads to deforestation, causing floods and avalanches, and how skiing erodes slow-growing Alpine grass, whilst more hotels, lifts and railways are built to accommodate the tourists. This documentary visits three areas, in Austria, France and Switzerland, where efforts are being made to check the decline of the environment.
