Summary:
Made popular by the opening of the Panama Canal and the 1915 Pan-American Exposition in San Diego, Spanish Revival homes were built not only in California but also across the country. Borrowing design elements and materials from Mediterranean architecture, such as colorful stucco walls, low sloping tile roofs, arched windows, and decorative ironwork, builders used modern construction methods to achieve the historic look. This video follows the restoration of a vintage 1923 Spanish Revival home.
