- Summary:
- This is the unique story of a dramatic stand-off in the Barents Sea in October 2005. The Russian trawler ""Elektron"" was caught fishing illegally in the Sptisbergen zone when the Norwegian Coast Guard intervened and ordered them to the Norwegian port of Tromsø. After two Norwegian officers had boarded it, the trawler fled for Russian waters, with Norwegian warships and helicopters in hot pursuit. The chase lasted for one thousand kilometres, and is unprecedented in the history of the Norwegian Coast Guard. In an interview made after the chase, the Captain of the Elektron, Valerij Jaranpsey, thanks his counterpart on the Norwegian warship for not shooting. Commentary is in Norwegian, the interview with the Elektron Captain in Russian. There are some unique recordings of the radio communication between the ships in English.
