- Normalizing behavior by viewing symptoms as transitions from one stage of life to another including children, couples, adolescents, leaving home, and old age. Each of these stages includes techniques using case material to solve problems and move clients to the next stage of development. Haley also discusses how therapists choose a theory, a directive approach to solve crises in cases of suicide, schizophrenia, compulsions, delinquency, assumptions that clients are curable, and actual cases illustrating directive techniques for problems of addiction and violence. This workshop includes variety of techniques to deal with couples in distress.
