Summary:
The warriors of the Golden Gate Bridge wage a constant battle--not against their bridge, but against the corrosive elements of wind, weather, and hard use that take a toll each day. Crews of painters, electricians, and security officers work on and around this most unusual site, tending to the bridge almost as if it is a living creature entrusted to their care. Some 160,000 gallons of "International Orange" paint give the bridge its distinctive look. Paint crews blast off old paint and rust before they apply two new coats, a process that is ongoing.
