An inspired showman, Béjart attracted huge new audiences for dance with the productions he mounted in sports stadia, public squares and circus tents. Punctuated by Béjart's narration of his life story, his magical staging of The Nutcracker is an enchanting and enchanted autobiography. Tchaikovsky's score is augmented with popular accordion music performed on-stage by the legendary Yvette Horner. Béjart Ballet Lausanne recorded the work at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
