Summary:
In 2010, it was the 30th anniversary of the May 18th Gwangju Democratic Movement against dictatorship. Civilian fighters now live as normal citizens of Gwangju, but the memory of the movement continues to influence their lives. Before the movement, they were just young boys and girls from poor families but with dreams. When martial law was proclaimed, Gwangju was surrounded by soldiers. But the people formed an autonomous community of civilian fighters. The community was formed of their own will, and at times they were completely isolated from the outside world, without connection to the activists who were leading the democratic movement in Korea.
