Summary:
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is defined using the latest diagnostic criteria. Prevalence rates and the onset and progression of the disorder will be presented. Issues of client insight, common themes of compulsions, suicide risk and diagnostic difficulties will be discussed. Standard treatment interventions: Goals, Pharmacologic Therapy, Psychological Therapy (techniques for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, exposure and response prevention) will be reviewed and participants will be asked to diagnose actual case studies.
