Based on real events that took place during the Civil Rights struggle, this short dramatic film will bring to life for the next generation the passion and heroism of the movement. Superbly acted, with Dick Gregory in the role of the aging activist, it tells a story of a friendship between races that took place in the sixties and the commitment of those two young people to the cause of justice in the South. The story line is affecting. When prominent attorney John Glass receives a letter from a dying gentleman in Alabama, he embarks on a journey to discover the truth about this mysterious man's connection to his deceased mother. John's search takes him back to 1964's Freedom Summer and the heart-wrenching truth of who his mother was and why she died, that had been hidden from him by his father. This beautifully crafted story about friendship, love, family and sacrifice set against the turbulent times of the Civil Rights struggle will enable young adults today to realize that the sacrifices made in the sixties paved the way for important changes in this country.
