Stories of courage and immeasurable determination never get old, which is true of this classic, award-winning documentary that tells the stories of four brave and strong-minded people who are blind but, after participating in the rehabilitation methods used by the Iowa Commission for the Blind, have learned to deal with their blindness and become independent individuals. We meet Harold Mason, who was blinded during a hunting accident, who now lives an active life playing golf, doing woodwork and raising awareness about blindness by visiting schools; Gary Patterson, who was born with severe Glaucoma that resulted in his blindness, who works as a system's analyst; Becky Thompson, a nurse who became blinded due to diabetes, who helps raise community awareness of the capabilities of people with blindness; and through Patrick McLuen, a newly blinded student, we see how he faces the day-to-day challenges of following the training techniques from learning Braille to discovering how to cook a meal to honing his skills at woodworking.
