- Summary:
- Kursk Submarine: The Russian K-141 Kursk was the largest attack submarine ever built; it was laid down in 1992 and launched two years later. In August 2000 the Kursk was set out on a dummy torpedo drill a long with three other attack subs. On the 12 of August it fired its first dummy torpedo at the flagship but there was an explosion, the cause of it is the subject of debate. There was a second explosion. Most of the crew was killed outright but 23 of the 118 crew members aboard survived in compartment nine. Despite rescue attempts from British and Norwegian naval teams, these men could not be reached and also died. Bradford Stadium Fire: The 11th of May 1985 was meant to be a day of celebration as the Bradford City Football Club marked its triumph as winners of the third division trophy. Instead it is one of horror as 56 people were killed due to a fire that broke out in the valley parade stadium.
