- Pearl Harbor: On the 7th of December 1941, the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was ambushed by the naval forces of the empire of Japan. It was the event that made the US enter the Second World War. There were heavy losses for the Americans with 2403 dead and 1178 wounded, they also lost 188 aircraft and 5 battleships and 1 minelayer and 3 destroyers were either sunk or badly damaged. The air raid attack began at 7:48am and was over ninety minutes later.
