Summary:
Peenemude: In 1936 Germany's Reich Ministry paid the town of Wolgast 750,000 Reichsmarks for the exclusive use of a large area of land near the mouth for the Peene River on the Baltic coast. It was made into an army research center and a Luftwaffe test site. The Heeves Ver such Stelle Peenemunds became one of the five military proving grounds. It was the site of the development of the v2 rocket. It was the progenitor of all modern rockets and lead to the Saturn five moon rocket. Many died during the construction of them. It took many years but in 1942 they finally got it right. Over 3225 of the 6000 made were launched, some of the targets were, England, Belgium and the Netherlands.
