- Summary:
- The Vietnam War was a source of conflict between communist North Vietnam and democratic South Vietnam. In March US troops were sent to provide support to the South Vietnamese, against the might of the Viet Cong, directed by Ho Chi Min. But not all Americans were happy about their country's involvement in the war, feeling that it was the business of the Vietnamese people to decide if they wanted to become communist or not, and particularly against sending their young men off to a brutal, dirty war where many were killed fighting a war that wasn't theirs to fight.
