- Summary:
- Award-winning careers advisor Lynne Coy has honed her approach to mock interviews over the last 15 years at Yewlands School in Sheffield. The process starts with an interview skills lesson, preparing students for coming face to face with real employers during a mock interview day. The pupils use sequencing cards to role-play questions asked by employers at previous events. They then feed back to the group their individual emotions towards their impending interview. The Mock Interview day itself is a big event, involving 170 year 11 students, 20 staff and around 25 employers from the local community. Covering a range of different industries, from the police and army to sports and engineering, the pupils are interviewed by professionals for a fictitious job vacancy. During an evaluation process with Lynne, the pupils share their views on the experience.
