- Summary:
- THE MECHANIZED EYE is part of the film retrospective UNSEEN CINEMA that explores long-forgotten American experimental cinema. Bordering on unadulterated kitsch, this novelty singalong ingeniously collapses time and space as it lauds the progressive march of American ideals. The songs, belted out by noted jazz singer Irving Kaufman, are illustrated through a zany mix of newsreel footage, liberally altered by a series of clever optical techniques. -BRUCE POSNER. 35mm 1.33:1 black & white sound 5:48 minutes.
