Summary:

"The experimental theater group Otrabanda cruises down the Mississippi River, setting up in various towns, performing its own blend of theater, vaudeville and improvisation to people who live along the shore. Many in the audience have never before seen live theater. Otrabanda was formed at Antioch College in the late 1960's under the guidance of visiting drama coach, Flemish playwright-director Tone Brulin. He later moved on to live on Curacao in the Caribbean. Some of his former students joined him there and worked with him to perfect their repertory and a technique emphasizing noise and much bodily activity on stage. They toured American colleges but became disenchanted with the predictably sophisticated audiences. Looking for a different, less orthodox way of presenting theater, they developed what became the "river raft revue." 1974."
