Summary:
Premature infants often present with feeding, swallowing, and respiratory problems due to immaturity of their body systems, including gastrointestinal and respiratory systems. Current medical advancements have lowered the gestational age for survival and increased the number of medically fragile infants now found in the NICU. This seminar will focus on the anatomical, physiological, medical, and developmental characteristics related to feeding, swallowing, and respiratory problems in premature infants.
