FORT BENNING, GEORGIA - In impressive ceremonies, Secretary Stevens bestows new honors on the historic 3rd Division, one of America's greatest fighting units. FOOTBALL DETROIT LIONS TIE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES in a pro grid thriller at Detroit's Briggs Stadium. The Lions tie to clinch the Western Division title, but they have to come from behind to do it. PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP - Frankford High is pitted against Southeast Catholic in the 17th Edition of the City Classic. Unbeaten Southeast uncorks a power-house attack to win, 34-0. BOXING OLSON AND LANGLOIS sign for a title bout in San Francisco. The World Middleweight champion, Bobo Olson, and Pierre Langlois. Europe's outstanding contender, greet cordially at the signing, but later in training, each shows that he's in fine form and pointing for the big bout. (San Francisco Only)
