- WASHINGTON HAS SEASONAL LOOK Winter comes to the nation's capital as nine inches of snow falls in a sudden storm. National Airport is closed for several hours. Washington takes on a seasonal greeting card look and the holiday mood becomes official with the lighting of the national tree. NEW YORK HONORS MARINE HERO Sgt. Robert O'Malley of New York, first marine to win the medal of honor in Vietnam, gets another decoration. Mayor John Lindsay awards him the city's gold Medal of Honor in ceremonies at City Hall in Manhattan ... While the City Council and his parents look on. CONGRESSMEN VISIT UNITED NATIONS A delegation of congressmen, their wives and aides, visit the United Nations for a day-long tour. Their host is U.S. Ambassador Arthur Goldberg. Discussions, briefings, and a visit to the Security Council in session are all part of a busy day at the U.N. PRESIDENTIAL AIDE RESIGNS Presidential Press Secretary Bill Moyers announces his resignation. He'll become the publisher of a Long Island newspaper. As well as press secretary, Moyers was an intimate friend and adviser to President Johnson. CIRCUS THRILLS ON ICE The world-famous Russian state circus-on-ice performs in Holland. Tanya Lebedeva thrills the crowd by balancing, on skates, in the middle of a thin pole. Skating bears provide plenty of laughs and the show ends with a whirling folk-scene finale.
