- The presented video shows the basic steps of laparoscopic pyeloplasty in a pediatric patient. The procedure is done for Ureteropelvic junction obstruction which is a congenital condition and is the most common cause of hydronephrosis in children. The viewer will be able to see the basic steps of the procedure with methods of handling pediatric kidney and dissection of the pelvis and ureter. The technique demonstrated shows how to excise the abnormal pelvi-ureteric junction (PUJ) and perform the PUJ anastomosis. Simple steps to place the double j stent across the anastomosis have also been elaborated upon. The description is complemented by steps in the video and covers important steps such as port placements, location of the renal pelvis, pelvic hitch, cutting the pelvis, etc.
