- RESCUE WORKERS IN DRAMATIC RACE: Near Hazelton, Pa., a tense drama unfolds at the Old Lehigh mine as teams of rescue workers labor around the clock to reach three entombed miners. In a sloping shaft blocked by tons of debris two miners are trapped in one pocket and a third in another part of the shaft. A communication shaft is drilled to the two men and food and tools dropped down. They spend frustrating hours trying to reach the other man. It's a saga of man's courageous concern for his fellow-man. FRENCH 'CHUTISTS JUMP FOR TITLE: Parachute jumping in France has taken on the aspects of a national sport. 41 contestants compete in the French Championships - both men and women. A camera follows the jumpers down for an unusual film record. LUMBERJACKS COMPETE FOR TITLES: The best men out of the North Woods converge on Hayward, Wisconsin, for the Woodchoppers' World Series. In sawing and chopping and log-rolling contests they seek coveted titles. There are other awards, too. A deluxe chuck wagon waits on the sidelines to refuel the hungry men. CHIMP STEALS SHOW AT ICE CAPADES: You can be sure that fall is in the air when the Ice Capotes takes to the road. For this 24th season they have a Czech pair - Otto and Maria Jelinkek as well as an outstanding soloist Japanese Hisashi Kuchiki. But you know who steals the show? "Spunky" - a chimp who does stunts that would give most humans pause.
