He had lived in luxury in Miami while Venezuela attempted to bring him home to face charges that he embezzled $13,000,000 when he was forced to flee the country. Now, the man whose fortune is estimated at $700,000,000 faces 16 years in prison. OPPOSITION TO NEHRU MOUNTS: As India celebrates the l6th year of Independence, Prime Minister Nehru is facing mounting pressure that he resign. He has held office since India became self-governing but now eight opposition parties are forcing a vote of confidence over the Chinese and economic issues. ANGLICANS HOLD WORLD CONGRESS: Representatives of 40,000,000 communicants of the Anglican Church convene in Toronto, Canada. The Archbishop of Canterbury says the first aim of the Anglicans is to seek unity with other Christian faiths. SPORTS OUTSIDER BEATS TOP HORSES: Saratoga, New York, celebrates its Centennial with the Running of the Travers, the oldest stake race in the U.S. "Crewman", 20 to 1 takes the lead at the start and outruns "Never Bend", "Chateaugay" (Kentucky Derby winner) and "Candy Spots" who copped the Preakness. He took on the best and licked 'em all. PROS HOLD DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS: At Grossinger, New York, the top professional divers compete on the 3 and 5 meter boards and on the l0-meter platform in the first International World Championships for Pros. Most are former Olympic and International stars and they run off a thrilling meet.
