Summary:
QUEMOY STANDOFF CONTINUES Another supply convoy reaches Quemoy despite the Red blockade. On Formosa, in a rare press conference, Chiang Kai Shek opposes reduction of garrisons on the off-shore Islands. In Peiping, the Reds rebuff U.S. peace bids with an enormous propaganda demonstration - massing an estimated three million to denounce America. SOLAR COOKER: In Massachusetts, the Army Quartermaster Corp shows a new solar furnace capable of generating heat close to that of a nuclear explosion. SKY DIVERS: Marine dare-devils train in new free-fall para-jumping, plummeting thousands of feet before opening their chutes. Advantages are accuracy and less likelihood of enemy detection. WORLD SERIES Highlights of World Series contests in Milwaukee, as the Braves take a 2-game lead over New York. In the thrill-packed opener, despite 2 Yankee homeruns - Milwaukee sends the game into extra innings, and Billy Bruton breaks it up with a liner off Ryne Duren to send home the winning run.
