- Summary:
- Can business volunteers with no teaching experience really help young children with their reading? Barton Hill Infant and Nursery School in Bristol have benefited for the past two years from the services of a group of reading buddies from their local branch of the Bank of Ireland, and discovered that there was much more to be gained from this scheme than just reading practice. The buddies give up a lunch hour every week to spend time reading with the children. As well as practising their reading, the children have the added bonus of being welcomed into the buddies' workplace to experience the world of work first hand.
