- Summary:
- Joanne Kellington is a teaching and learning consultant for Education Bradford. She specialises in behaviour and attendance at Key Stage 3, advising teachers across the LEA on good practice in behaviour management. In this programme, Joanne works with Sarah Burgess, an English teacher and SENCO at Bradford Cathedral Community College. The school has recently come out of special measures and is keen to offer teachers additional training and support. Although Sarah has been teaching for 15 years, and remains enthusiastic she is actively seeking new strategies to improve and keep her teaching practices up-to-date. She's asked Joanne to help perfect her behaviour management of a Year 8 special needs group. Joanne observes Sarah teaching a scene from Romeo and Juliet. She is able to reassure her that she is already employing many positive strategies for behaviour management. But she also offers Sarah some new strategies to try out in her next lesson.
