- This is the 10th biennial Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. The competition is now recognised as one of the leading events of its kind in the world. Past winners have included Karita Matilla and Dmitri Hvorostovksy. The 2001 finalists were Natalie Christie (Australia), Marius Brenciu (Romania), Ekaterina Semenchuk (Russia), Markus Bruck (Germany) and Elina Garanca (Latvia). The final winner was Marius Brenciu (Romania), who also won the Song Prize. Previous competitions also available.
