Summary:
"The combined Year 5/6 class at Ponsbourne St Mary's Primary School in Hertfordshire has been learning about the Earth in Space. By recording how shadows change on their playground and using visual representations of the Earth's orbit they have learnt how and why night and day happen. Today, class teacher Adrienne Bullen has brought the children to the Science Learning Centre, East of England at the University of Hertfordshire to extend their knowledge further. Under the supervision of Deputy Director Jane Turner, the class are encouraged to think like scientists and investigate answers to questions they have set themselves. With astronomer Bob Forrest on hand and specialist equipment like solar scopes and a planetarium, the children can extend their understanding of this complex topic in a fun and engaging way."
