- Summary:
- "DEAD" ATOMIC BOMB HITS U.S. TOWN A Strategic Air Command jet is forced by a defective bomb-dropping mechanism to jettison an atomic bomb over Florence, South Carolina. The nuclear weapon is not activated for use, and there is no A-blast, but its TNT "trigger" explodes, devastating a private home, and laying waste a large area. SUB SCHOOL: At Pearl Harbor, the Navy's Submarine School teaches underwater escape techniques with dramatic realism. Trainees must leave a flooded compartment in a sub 50 feet below surface. TUNNEL ATOMIC BLAST: The explosion of an atomic bomb in a Nevada tunnel last summer makes news today with the disclosure that it's shock was detected in Alaska, over 2,000 miles away. AUTOMATIC FACTORY: In Los Angeles, the first electronically-controlled all-automatic factory, with a production line of machine tools doing precision aircraft work under control of an electronic computer! FASHION PARADE: Newest creations of Italian designers, parade in swank Rome salons, reveal increasing emphasis on balloon skirts and harem hemlines, rather than the Parisian sack. APOLLO '58 is chosen in Paris - not for muscles alone, but for intellect as well. So say the sponsors, but the contestants wiggle a wicked tricep. TRAILER: Academy Awards.
