- Summary:
- These films are the second of a series - preceded by the famous "Gloria" films, which have received international recognition. The series follows the same format as the earlier Three Approaches to Psychotherapy. Each film includes an introduction by the therapist describing his method of therapy, followed by an interview with the client Kathy, and finally a summation by the therapist of the interview. The viewer has the unique opportunity of experiencing a private therapeutic session with three prominent therapists. Each therapist has a different technique, but each contributes significantly to Kathy's growth. Prior to his death in 1987, Dr. Rogers was Resident Fellow, Center for the Studies of the Person, La Jolla, California. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology and author of Client-Centered therapy, Boston, Houghton-Miflin, 1951. Dr. Rogers conducts the first therapy session with Kathy. She experiences Dr. Rogers as fatherly and feels at ease telling him about her fears and the "wall" she has built to protect herself from being hurt by others.
