- Summary:
- Archaeologists found the first artifacts of Paris habitation on the right bank of the Seine (nowadays Bercy), which was a strategic spot for maritime transport. Starting there, the narration depicts the evolution of the town into a modest Roman city: Lutèce. Town-planning ambitions led to the expansion of the left bank, the creation of the Cardo (Nowadays rue Saint-Jacques) and the building of the forum and the thermal baths. At a later stage, the decline of the Roman Empire allowed Christians to take control of the city. The Saint-Geneviève Church and the Saint-Apôtres monastery illustrate this revival.
