Summary:
Documentary film about the quilombola community located between Salvador and Simoes Filho (Bahia, Brazil), which focuses on the conflict over the land's ownership, vindicated by its dwellers and the Brazilian Navy. It denounces serious violations of the human rights and documents symbolic, cultural aspects and features of the territory, conflicts recorded in the heat of the moment by the quilombola themselves. "The ongoing fighting within this community is linked to the claims for water protection in indigenous populations, such as the Sioux of the Standing Rock reserve in North Dakota, who complain of the passage of oil pipelines through their territories. You should be familiar with the efforts that occur in Flint, Michigan, to expose water poisoning to black communities. This struggle is also linked to the struggles of Palestinian communities to defend their water reservoirs, which are constantly targeted by Israeli military forces. Then only through solidarity and struggle can we preserve our access to water" Angela Davis, 2017.
