Summary:
Gasandji, a native of the Republic of Congo, performed at the Moods Club in Zurich the same year of the release of her album "Le Sacré," accompanied by an eclectic band to say the least. With the Brazilian Adriano Tenório on drums - augmented by handcrafted percussion, Greg Emonet on guitar, Michel Lumana on bass and the Burkinan Dramane Dembélé on mandingo flute and tama (West African percussion). In the Pendé language, Gasandji means "The one who awakens consciences," and the artist doesn't take this bestowed mission lightly. Whether she sings in French or Lingala, the message is clear: "What is important for me is the language of emotion, it is a universal language," she confides to us between two songs. Her accompanists clearly enjoy playing together, and Gasandji, visibly possessed by the power of her own stories, takes us into a unique world. The music accompanies her stories and helps us understand their meanings. She is a touching, warm woman who pours out her heart and heals her wounds through love and music. **Anaïs Christidis Guillemard**.
